Test Lead


Division Purpose

  • The Transformation Office is responsible for execution of the bank’s transformation vision, strategy and roadmap of deliverables with a focus on digitalization of customer journeys.
  • The Transformation Office executes a portfolio of initiatives pre-dominantly through Agile Development (with some foundational initiatives aligned to the Waterfall project management methodology).
  • The Transformation Office houses expertise to support the execution of a portfolio of initiatives related to market segmentation, customer journeys, technology, data, risk management, change management, digital partnerships and capability development, a project management office amongst others.
  • The Transformation Office tracks and measures the progress of execution using modern portfolio management techniques (such as OKRs and TTIs) to ensure value is created for customers and the Bank.

Tribe Purpose

  • The Technology Tribe will support the business by building solutions required to deliver on the bank's digital strategy.
  • The Technology Tribe will advise and design solutions based on requirements from and feasibilities of other tribes, develop solutions based on the architecture blueprint while ensuring quality assurance throughout the development and execution of solutions.
  • The Technology Tribe will be equipped with forefront programming skills and knowledge of digital technologies so as to be able to provide innovative design solutions and advice on improvements needed to meet business needs.

Job Purpose

  • The job holder is responsible for leading the development and establishment of quality assurance standards for the bank's software and applications.
  • The job holder will be responsible for engaging stakeholders to ensure testing services cover all scenarios, requirements and expectations to drive the bank's digital strategy and for coordinating with other teams from Technology Tribe to ensure work produced is high quality and free from bugs and glitches.

Key Relationships

  • Reports to Technology Tribe Lead
  • Direct reports include Testers, Test Engineers
  • Internal stakeholders include teams within the Transformation Office and relevant departments in the Bank
  • External stakeholders include partners providing professional services


  1. Testing
  • Lead a team of Test Engineers and Testers to deliver testing services to squads so that digital solutions are built to meet expectations and requirements.
  • Establish and maintain testing principles, processes and procedures that will form the basis of test strategies, test approaches and test plans.
  • Drive the preparation and execution of test cases, ensuring compliance and readiness to meet entry and exit quality gates.
  • Manage the process of identifying, communicating, triaging, tracking and confirming resolution of defects identified during test cycles, and support the delivery teams during defect resolution
  • Lead the presentation of reports on progress of testing services for squad and tribe leads.

B. Managing Projects

  • Manage project conflicts, challenges and dynamic business requirements to keep operations running at high performance.
  • Work with team leads to resolve people problems and project roadblocks, conduct post mortem and root cause analysis to help squads continuously improve their practices to ensure maximum productivity.

C. Developing Talent

  • Attract, motivate and retain employees across all levels for a high performance culture.
  • Develop and coach Testers into fully competent Test Engineers.
  • Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the tribe.


Domain Expertise

  • 8 to 12 years of relevant experience working in software development projects with prior experience in a technical leadership role
  • Qualified to ISEB / ISTQB Foundation level for Software testing
  • Experience in defining test cases from functional requirements and in cross browser / environment testing
  • Experience using tools and processes used in web software testing
  • Experience working on web standards and technologies including accessibility compliance

Agile / Digital Experience

  • Deep experience in Agile Software Development and has mastery of Agile principles, practices and Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience working in Agile teams to support successful digital transformation projects, involved in the end-to-end planning to implementation


  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering or information technology
